Jean Paul Getty (December 15, 1892 – June 6, 1976) was an American industrialist who founded the Getty Oil Company, and for much of his life was the richest living American. At his death, he was worth more than $2 billion. He has been ranked the 67th richest American who ever lived, based on his wealth as a percentage of the gross national product. Getty was an avid collector of art and antiquities; his collection formed the basis of the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles, California, and over $661 million of his estate was left to the museum after his death.
OK, let’s take it as read that we’ve written a bunch of nasty comments about how mormons baptized Getty only because they love money. Then we can get onto the next topic. This is badly researched and executed temple work. Among other things, even though the FamilySearch has been updated to remove duplicate records, there seem to be over 10 copies for Brother Getty. Some of these seem to be solely for the purpose of documenting his 5 marriages, though it doesn’t appear that the names and dates on any of these records are correct. I doesn’t appear that there are any records for any of Getty’s children, even though his son Eugene was remarkable enough to have been knighted in England. And, not surprisingly, there are several ordinances that are ready and waiting to be completed.
